Primary Benefits of Isotonix® Advanced B-Complex:
B vitamins are found in all whole, unprocessed foods. Processing, as with sugar and white flour, tends to significantly reduce B vitamin content. B vitamins are particularly concentrated in meat, and other good sources are potatoes, bananas, lentils, chile peppers, tempeh, beans, liver oil, liver, turkey, tuna, nutritional yeast, brewer's yeast, and molasses. Marmite and Vegemite bill themselves as "one of the world's richest known sources of vitamin B".
The B vitamins are necessary in order to:
Support and increase the rate of metabolism
Maintain healthy skin and muscle tone
Enhance immune and nervous system function
Promote cell growth and division—including that of the red blood cells that help prevent anemia.
What Makes Advanced B-Complex Unique?
Deficiency causes beriberi. Symptoms of this disease of the nervous system include weight loss, emotional disturbances, Wernicke's encephalopathy (impaired sensory perception), weakness and pain in the limbs, periods of irregular heartbeat, and edema (swelling of bodily tissues). Heart failure and death may occur in advanced cases. Chronic thiamine deficiency can also cause Korsakoff's syndrome, an irreversible psychosis characterized by amnesia and confabulation.
Deficiency causes ariboflavinosis. Symptoms may include cheilosis (cracks in the lips), high sensitivity to sunlight, angular cheilitis, glossitis (inflammation of the tongue), seborrheic dermatitis or pseudo-syphilis (particularly affecting the scrotum or labia majora and the mouth), pharyngitis, hyperemia, and edema of the pharyngeal and oral mucosa.
Isotonix® Advanced B-Complex FAQs
What is the source of the vitamin B12 in our Isotonix B-Complex?
Vitamin B-12 is a bacterial product, not synthesized by plants or animals. We get it by taking supplements or by eating eggs or meats. Vegetarians are recommended to take a B vitamin dietary supplement.
Can a person who lacks Intrinsic Factor and has to take B-12 shots get benefits from taking Isotonix B-Complex?
No. Vitamin B-12 requires intrinsic factor, a B-12 binding protein synthesized in stomach parietal cells for proper absorption.
Why are B-vitamins so important in the aging process?
The ability to absorb B-vitamins naturally decreases with age, and various indicators of cognitive impairment are associated with reduced B-vitamin levels. The elderly in general suffer from a reduction in sense of taste, and thus appetite, and may use many acid reducing medicines that predispose them to B12 deficiency. According to Robert M. Russell of the U.S. RDA’s Human Nutrition Center on Aging at Tufts University, vitamin B12 is probably the single most important nutrient adversely affected by aging. Vitamin B12 is at once an incredibly difficult nutrient to assimilate and digest as well as one of the most important vitamins for a broad range of bodily functions including optimal functioning of the nervous system, normal DNA and RNA synthesis, optimal energy production and healthy blood integrity.*
Is there a certain time to take B-Complex?
Isotonix B-Complex can be taken along with any of the other Isotonix products on an empty stomach.
